Lessons From the Past

May 15, 2012 Leave a comment

I ran across this article a little while back. I found it interesting, as it mirrors some of the discussion we have on occasion in our house. I also found it hopeful, as it attempts to bring to the fore an alternative that just hasn’t been “acceptable” in the mainstream of education for so long (if ever). But you have to begin somewhere. Hopefully, this idea can gain some traction and coverage. Hopefully, those “who know best for all the rest” will take a moment to listen, rather than lecture.

Innovation doesn’t always come from that which lays ahead, the untried. Sometimes you have to look behind you.

A Peak Into Our Past

September 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Ben Wisdom, a virtual acquaintance that I follow on Google Reader, shared the link to this photo collection quite a while back. Many (many, many) weeks went by before I finally took the time to go to the link to view the collection. I kept saving the link in Google Reader until I finally got around to it.

The collection, titled “Captured: America in Color from 1939-1943“,  offers a brief glimpse into our past. It is a an interesting view into how things were for some folks in America in the not so distant past. My parents were children and teens during this time, so this is part of their experience. I hope you enjoy it.
